Beginner help editing pages

New to Concrete5, and have several questions.

1. When initially installing, I chose the option to include several addons (and not the option which said something like veterans can fly solo). Then I started either editing them or deleting the ones I didn't want. There were a couple such as portfolio, blog, etc. I go to the sitemap, however, they are not shown, so I cannot delete them. How do I delete them?

2. I go to the new page link on the right, and create a new page. How do I then add this page to a menu? To create pages, my workaround has been going to the sitemap and adding a page that way, but I expect there wouldn't be the whole new page part if it wasn't necessary.

3. I make changes, and then need to remember to publish them. Is there a way I can see where I've made changes but haven't yet published them?

4. The initial page was called "Elemental". Do I just edit each place this was included, or is there some general area which I should edit which specifies the website title, etc? EDIT. Ah, I see Elemental is the theme. Still, they include this word several places on the page. Do I just edit it out?

Thank you

As for #4, you can go to:
Dashboard (right most toolbar icon) > System & Settings > Site Name

This will allow you to change the site name, which is prepopulated in parts of the Elemental theme.

Hi,

#1 Not sure I understand. You mean you still see the Blog and Portfolio pages but they are not in the Sitemap?

#2 Some information on adding pages:

http://documentation.concrete5.org/editors/in-page-editing/adding-p...

#3 When you visit a page with unpublished changes, a message should appear at the top right of the window as a reminder with the option to approve/publish the changes.

Regards,

Jordi

#2 - After you create the page click on the gear icon upper left. Click on Composer and scroll down to the Location field. Click in the field and you get a site map. Select a page in the nav tree where you wish to locate the new page. Essentially the same operation using the sitemap.

#2 is you press that button, you are taken to the new page, if you then press the button with the cog you get a page overlayed on your current page. the 5th option "Page Location" lets you define where the page should be stored

( for the next question, it looks like you are using version 5.7 )

#3 what version are you using? version 5.7 should give you a popup on the page itself when there are unaproved changes.

Edit, hmm, Lots of people type faster then me :)

Wow, a whole new page! It was already set to what I wanted, but thank you for pointing this out!!!

@Jordi: #1 Not sure I understand. You mean you still see the Blog and Portfolio pages but they are not in the Sitemap?
No, they are not in the sitemap. A link still existed to them, and I didn't get a 404 or anything, but it showed the page.

@Jordi: #3 When you visit a page with unpublished changes, a message should appear at the top right of the window as a reminder with the option to approve/publish the changes..
Well, that is good, but I still need to visit the page and if I don't, my visitors are not seeing what I think they are. I would be nice to have a page which displays anything which is out of sync, but at least I know now.

@RickJ and @LaurenceMommers (and @Jordi, but you already had two!). Remarks about how to add a page and then add it to the site...
Thanks. Let me experiment.

@LaurenceMommers #3 what version are you using?
