Block content deleting on update only in IE

I'm using the plain text block for my site's headers. This is only happening in IE but each time I go to edit the text and then click update, it reloads the page and shows no text at all in the block area. If I click to edit again, it reveals that the text has been deleted. I can of course discard my edits to get it back but cannot successfully edit the text in IE. I'm using IE8 in XP.
