C5 Editing Toolbar missing, but only from subsequent pages

I did a search and didn't see this exact topic.

My client has an issue with an Editor level login, where he can login the home page and see the C5 toolbar, but when clicking through to the "About" page (for example), the toolbar is not showing.

I tested as signed in as him, and myself and it's showing fine in Chrome. I'm waiting to hear which IE he's using, but since he hasn't had troubles previously, I can only think it's internet connection or IE file serving problem.

Anyone have an idea?

He's on IE9. I tested with my IE9 and Chrome and it's working. Could there be any caching or temporary file download issues that would cause this?

Since the toolbar shows up on the homepage but not on other pages my first guess would be that there's something screwy with pretty urls or your htaccess file. But you say that it works fine for you -- which is strange. It's possibly related to caching (like the browser cache, not the Concrete5 system cache). There are some bugs with IE9, but again if it's working on one page but not another that doesn't sound like a browser bug but rather a problem with the site's configuration or the way paths/url's are set up.

Once I had a similar issue. Seems like I'd screwed something up in the core that I shouldn't have been messing with, and oddly enough, it only affected IE 9. Can't remember what it was I did, but that's when I realized the core was best left alone.
On another note, make sure you have the following in your template's view.php file:
<?php  Loader::element('header_required'); ?>

Thanks for the replies.

I'm checking the htaccess file and I noticed the view file didn't have the header_required line, so I'm adding it and seeing if there's anything different on my client's end. It works great for me still.

That's probably the issue then.
Hope it solves the problem. If so, don't forget to mark my answer as the best one please, I need the Karma!
Good luck!

Those changes unfortunately didn't work.

I'm going to try seeing if making him admin will help, and then if not, I'll see if he'll mind trying Chrome, just in case it's (his) IE9 instance.

The only other thing I can think of outside of re-installing the entire framework is deleting his account and re-issuing him a user account.

Thanks.

mmmm, sorry to hear it didn't work. Curses IE!
I would only delete and re-install the c5 framework as the very last ditch effort, unless your gut tells you otherwise.
I really don't think the problem is c5 but IE. It could very well be his version of IE as well. I have encountered issues w/ IE that only occurred on the client's version and not on my testing version. Very odd stuff, but that's the world of IE.
If you recommend Chrome, a good way to approach this problem is to explain that IE 6 is like a Black & White TV. IE 9 is like a nice analog TV set. You can't expect either one to pick up HD though without modifying them considerably.
I use this metaphor whenever a client insists on a website looking exactly the same in all browsers — it's like demanding a Black & White TV pick up HD color channels.
Anyway, I'll keep flipping this in the back of my mind and let you know if I think of any other reasons it may being doing this.
And just to be sure, you didn't mess w/ anything in the core did you? If so, then backing up your DB, deleting your c5 install then reinstalling would be the way to go.
Anyone else out there got any ideas?

I'm having the same issue and no help. I see the space where the edit bar should be, but it is blank.

Could someone look at the 2 attached screen shots at the end of this post, and maybe help?
