calendar help - using a different template ruins the calendar?!

Help!

So everytime I add an event to my calendar - it appears fine. But then when I go to the page of the event I just created and switch it from Event Template to Calendar Template - it no longer appears as an event in my calendar.

What do I do?

actually you're changing page type, not template. You could apply a different theme to the page, but the page types here are used for functionality not layout control.

The way this works is simple once you get your head around it.. The calendar block looks for any page type of calendar - that's the list of available calendars on your site. Any page type of event is an event that can show up on one or more of those calendars. While that doesn't roll off the tongue easily, it does buy you a lot of flexibility when it comes to adding stuff like pictures or guestbooks to pages.

DONT $**& with it!

Could you explain that in English please.

Im having a similar thing.

Install the calendar.

Discovered you must use the calendar page. OK.

Change the name. Sitemap – OK

Change the Edit Page/Design! PROBLEM

Can you apply a custom page type (Design) to the calendar? If so can you explain how.

UPDATE

OK. I re-installed after altering the DB.

Re-installed the calendar and changed the design template. IT worked.

Calendar is working BUT

I cant apply my Design template to the Events page without f***££@@ everything up.

But I want to.

ALSO I have all the Concrete defined areas in the calendar page (my template) and I can edit and add content and menus etc. BUT when I go to add an image from the image library I get the infinite spinning wheel.

I’m nearly there, but I would like to be able finish editing the calendar page and customise the Events page.

Help with this would be wonderful thanks.

Is it something to do with view.php?

UPDATE

OK I think I can live with this now I understand view.php controls the Events.

BUT I need to sort out why I cant add images to my main calendar page despite all the right boxes being there etc.

Whats going on its like when I hit choose its looking for something and it cant find it.

the calendar creates two new page types, event and calendar. If you don't have these in your theme, you should just go ahead and make them and you'll be able to format them there.
calendar.php
calendar_event.php

if these files dont exist, yes c5 will try something else, but if you make them you can fully control what's on those page types

Hi Franz,

thanks for replying and sorry for all the random posts.

I am getting there with it I think.

What is bugging me is that each event I create creates a new page that has no navigation on it at all. It has places to add navigation but I dont think the client is going to want to add navigation every time she uses the calendar.

Every event needs to go onto a fully formatted page ie including navigation etc, at least an auto nav with only the relevant event titles etc editable.

I have calendar.php and calendar_event.php in my theme.

I get how it works now and it seems to be more stable, but I just need to sort this out.

Also when I go into Agenda mode, all my events are missing?
