Can you use 5.2 themes in 5.3

Stupid question I know but can the 5.2 themes in marketplace be used in 5.3 I have done a search but cannot find any question relating to this

with some tinkering you could isntall them pretty easily yourself. the big change between the versions in terms of themes was the way they're installed.

so if you can install by hand, go for it.

so do i just place them in the themes directory or do i have to change any code
