Can't edit my site. No access to Dashboard

I'm installed version 5.4.2.2. Everything was running fine until Saturday. I lost access to the Dashboard and can no longer edit my site. I have the default theme and pictures are not showing up.
I get to the sign-in page, provide my account information and get logged in but Dashboard is not displayed at all.
Any ideas? Anyone with the same problem?

after you log in what exactly do you see when you go to http://www.example.com/index.php/dashboard...
Well, this just got resolved by itself. It was broken the entire weekend and I was not able to make updates to the site but today it started working again and everything returned to normal. I don't know what the issue was. Maybe there was some kind of maintenance during the weekend. Not sure, but the case is closed and I hope this doesn't happen again.
