Can't edit Scrapbook Items (Changes won't save, edit "content" type hangs)

When I try to change the name of a scrapbook, (say it's named HTML Block 1291), the original name stays. No changes will be applied. I've tried clearing the cache, refreshing the database, clearing the cache again, updating to the newest version, clearing the cache again, and still nothing.
In addition to that, when I'm trying to edit a content block (only in the dashboard, it works fine for editing pages in the front end), it loads up a box like it's going to work, but then hangs on the spinning wheel and the wheel stays regardless of if I close the edit window or not.
Any ideas?

There's a bug since 5.4.2 that does not allow you to rename scrapbook items that are contained within a scrapbook that has spaces in it's name. Try renaming the scrapbook, then the item within it, and you can rename the scrapbook back afterward.
When I renamed the scrapbook, everything disappeared from it. It says there are no blocks in the scrapbook, but they're still showing up on the site. Any ideas for that? haha!
Also, even with the renamed scrapbook, editing content still doesn't work.
Edit: Was able to get the blocks visible again by restoring from backup. I'm able to sort of hack it together by using the HTML editing, but the client doesn't know HTML, so this is only a temporary solution. If the scrapbook doesn't contain spaces, renaming works as described.
