Can't get started

Permalink
Hi,

Just installed C5 V. 5.3.3.1

I'm getting a blank page when I try to add content using the WYSISYG editor.

Is it a bad install, y'reckon?

link ishttp://www.lingualucida.com

I ran an automatic install using Simple Scripts chez Bluehost.com (my hoster). Previous installs of similar stuff (WordPress, Joomla) have been flawless.

Did a fresh install but problem remains: when I click on "content", the pop-up window appears, and the spinning cog freezes for a few seconds before exiting to a blank screen.

If no one can suggest any other solution, I'm going back to WP for this site.

no thats a problem with simple scripts, the always screw up concrete5 go to the bottom of this page and click "Host Your Own" and download the zip extract it and upload the files via ftp

I tried your suggestion, Mnkras. I uninstalled the Simple Scripts then downloaded the C5 package, uploaded to site, set up new database appropriately, and yet I still get the same problem:

When I click on "Content", the gear wheel freezes in the pop-up editor before any of the editing tools appear, then the pop-up disappears and leaves a blank screen.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I've given up on C5 and reinstalled old WordPress theme pending a solution to such a basic problem (could it be write permissions?).

All the great things about C5 count for naught if I can't edit content ...

After googling outside the forum, I found that my problem is in fact fairly well known:

There does not appear to be any clear guidance to the solution. Developers are surely aware of the issue, so why no response?

Ria, are you using plain yogurt or a custom theme? Can you post or PM me a link to phpinfo on your hosting? Perhaps set up a subdomain and reinstall c5 there?
Ria replied on at Permalink Reply
Just the plain yoghurt theme (haven't had a chance to customize anything :(

Can you explain exactly what you mean by phpinfo?

Thanks for taking time out to help.

phpinfo outputs the configuration variables of your hosting environment and is a tool used to troubleshoot issues like this. If you upload a file to your hosting that has this in it:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

then send me a link to that file, I can see if I notice anything amiss.

OK. Link in PM.

Great! Glad you got it worked out. That issue is marked 'fixed in dev' so should be all fixed up with the next release of c5.
