Cannot BOLD text using a validated XML file with Import Add On

Hi
Has anybody had this problem...
I am using the Import Add on for the E-commerce section of my website, however as part of the description / specification and to save time I want to be able to BOLD text in my XML files, but when I import the file it strips out the bold text! sometimes it also crashes.
is there a way around this?
