Cannot edit - Edit button and Dashboard header disappeared

I was trying to format data in columns in html mode in a content block. Now the Concrete5 header with the edit site and also the dashboard buttons has disappeared.
Also I cannot select any of the blocks or edit anything to do with the site.
It was working fine but now it seems to have gone off half-cocked after I have added a content block and put in some html. As you can see, I have a PHP block which is working except for some formatting, however, I did notice that I could not cursor up or down within this block, only left or right. This started after I added the content block and some code. Then it went completely pear shaped and the end result being the attached screenshot.
From reading other posts, I managed to get to the dashboard but this is not helping me to correct things.

I am using my own server but restarting Apache2 and MySQL has made no difference. I have even restarted the machine. Everything else is working fine.

I have searched the forums but although there are similar issues, there is nothing like this.
I am using Concrete5.6.3.1 on Ubuntu Server 13.10.

Can anyone please help and put me out of my misery?

navigate to dashboard > full sitemap by going to yoursite.com/index.php/dashboard, and revert back a page version. Should be able to regain control pretty easily.

Thanks enlil. That has done the trick.
I didn't know you could do that and it took me a few minutes to work out how to do it but I got there.

Thanks very much.
