Can't Edit my Page Type Defaults????

So I have been working on my website for a while now. And I don't know what I did, but now I am unable to edit when I go into my Pages Types> Defaults >
When I click on a page to change, It loads a masterpage, just showing my basic theme, I click on Edit, it thinks for about 3 seconds and then pops back to before I clicked on the Edit button.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

What version of C5 are you running?
I have the same issue. Whenever I click on any of the Page defaults, it takes me to the homepage.
I have had a developer create our theme and we are using domain mapper with about 15 websites in our installation.
I had this problem in 5.4 and now after a very expensive complicated upgrade to 5.6.3, the problem is still there.
My developer says he has never seen this before and maybe it has something to do with domain mapper.
Anybody come to a solution to this. My developer says he can give me access through the database but it seems so complicated, I just want to easily access page defaults
