Can't get past the "checking for updates" after I login.

I've tried on both Safari and Chrome, and for some reason the "checking for updates" just continues, and for a lengthy period of time. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Thanks.

Its trying to connect to C5 once per day to see if you have any add-ons that need updating and get the latest C5 news feed. You can disable it with a define in config/site.php.

Thanks JohntheFish. I defined enable marketplace support and enable app news, false. No dice. I assume site.php in the root config folder is the correct file. I wasn't sure if it would make a difference, but I also cleared my browser cache.

You could also try to reconnect to the community and see if that solves your problem. Follow this How-To and see if that solves it: http://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/editors/reconnect-to...

Thanks adajad. I would try this, but can't get past the updating process to disable the cache. Not sure if disabling the cache is crucial for this process or not.

I should also mention, I had put my site in maintenance mode before this happened. So I can't even "return to website" to edit.

go tohttp://www.yoursite.com/index.php/dashboard/system/...
This should log you in directly to the system & settings page

Just a thought
make sure that in your site.php the word false is not wrapped in quotation marks like this 'false'

Thanks weyboat. I tried the direct link. First it tried updating, then let me in. Not sure if it was the booleans or not. Also I made sure the false had no quotes. Thanks for your help.
