Change BG Color - 3 colum layout

I am using one of the 3 column layouts with Concrete5. There is a left and a right sidebar area and then the main body center area. How can I make the two outer columns grey, for example, and the main body another color?

Also, is there a way to apply a background image to the entire Container Nav area for every page? I am using theme Slate.
