Change of block custom template published even without saving page

I've applied a new custom template in a block BUT I didn't saved the page before I logout.

What I've expected was the block maintaining it's previous custom template applied but it doesn't. The block now have the new template applied.

This is a bug or not?

I think this is as intended, though I agree it is very confusing.

You can't tell someone that they can always click "Discard My Changed" and fix their mistakes. If they changed a block template or the page type, it sticks anyway.
