Changed theme and admin login has disappreared

Permalink
I changed my theme yesterday and when I went login today,the admin login has disappeared. I am not a coder, strictly basic beginner. I don't know ANYTHING about coding, so some layman help would be greatly appreciated. I used this
http://www.adashgourmet.com/index.php/login... to login and this
http://www.adashgourmet.com/index.php/dashboard... to access dashboard. I was able to login, but when I hit the "Return to website" link, the Edit Site option is not there. Please, if anyone can help me I would be so grateful. Thank You!!!

Are you using a custom theme? If so, make sure your theme has the following line in the header (inside the head tags):
<?php Loader::element('header_required'); ?>

And has the next line in the site footer (just before the closing body tag):
<?php Loader::element('footer_required'); ?>

These need to be on every page so if you have an elements/header.php file, that is a good place to put the header_required and elements/footer.php is a good place to put footer_required.

Okay, but can you tell me how to access the header tag and site footer. I am a complete layman to this, so I kind of need a step by step to access this and be able to check to see if these things are present.

I really appreciate your help. Thank You!!

Well my first question is, is this a custom theme that you wrote or is it something that you got through the marketplace? Because if you got it through the marketplace it should already have those lines in the header and footer. I just don't want to be troubleshooting the wrong issue.

If you created the theme yourself, what does your directory structure for the theme look like?

I purchased it yesterday from the Marketplace. Its called (Indulgence. It was fine yesterday when I activated it. Now, I can's access the Full Sitemap (Receive an Access Denied pop-up box), Edit, or anything.

Hm, okay. I'm not really sure what could be the issue. Does it work fine if you switch the theme back to one of the defaults? If that is the case you might want to contact the theme developer directly. If you go to that theme's page in the market place athttp://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/themes/indulgence/... you will see a support link on the right side. This will allow you to request support from the theme developer. Hopefully she can help you out!

The footer is there when I convert back to old theme, but the option to Edit the site is still missing. I did send a message to the developer of theme, buy since it was happening to both the Concrete Free Theme and this developers theme, I thought it was Concrete related. Something strange just happened, I right clicked the "Return to Website" link and opened in a new window,and the "Edit Site" option finally appears....but not when I just directly hit the "Return to Website" link w/o opening in new wndow. This is so strange.

Sounds like a browser cache error,
Try clearing your browser cache and then click refresh, also try other browsers..

I did clear cache and refresh, no luck with that.

Where is this "/config/site_theme_paths.php" located? I'm a complete novice at this. Thanks!!

Hello,
You would need to access your site via FTP. It is likely located in the public_html directory. If you have never edited your site on the code level and only worked on it through the concrete5 dashboard, it is very unlikely that my suggestion would be the issues you are having.

Best Wishes,
Mike

Yes, I have only worked on it through the concrete5 dashboard. Thanks for trying to help. I'm completely lost and don't know what to do. Thanks again!!

On your web server, find the root folder of your c5 installation. You will know you are there when you see folders labeled as shown in attachment. The site_theme_paths.php file is in the config folder.

Oh wow!! I dont have that folder. The application was initialy downloaded on a dfferent laptop. I took over and have been updating the website by simply logging in as the admin from my desktop to edit the website. Tht was working just fine until I purchased and activated this new theme. I logged in today and had no access to anything. Maybe something changed on te laptop the original download took place on.

Do you see the other folders?

Some of them, but not all of them.

Is it just that the link to login is not at the footer of your site with the new theme? If I interpret your question correctly? Using your new theme can you navigate to your site.com/login ??
adash replied on at Permalink Reply
Unfortnately, its more than just the site admin login missing from page. I can login by using this url:http://www.adashgourmet.com/index.php/login,... but once I'm logged in I don't have access to things like the full sitemap. It says "access denied". Also, the option to click edit on a page has also disappeared, so I a completely unable to edit anything on site as well. Nothing is working. Its not working on the free Conrete5 theme either.

Maybe you don't have permission to access those features?
Does anyone else have access to login and mess with the sites permissions?
adash replied on at Permalink Reply
Well, two other people do, but I'm the one making edits. Everything was fine yesterday and now today I'm dealing with complete denial of access. It just does'nt make sense. I'm going to ask if either of them did anything, but I dont think they did.
