Changes to templates not showing up.

Hello, I'm having problems with the template changes not showing up.

I changed the theme to Dark Chocolate

I then proceeded to edit the file
public_html/concrete/themes/dark_chocolate/elements/header.php

and the changes to do not show up. I can delete header.php and it does not make a difference.

I have turned off Caching in the site settings. I have cleared all of my browsers cache. What gives?

You may be working out of the wrong directory. The best way to change an existing theme is to first make a copy of it from

public_html/concrete/themes/

and then paste it into

public_html/themes/

edit the description.txt to give it a unique name, then log into your site and install and activate this renamed theme. Then make changes to this duplicate you've created.
