Complete web designer newbie using Concrete5 and Dreamweaver (eep!)

Hi everybody, first post here. So I got in completely over my head by being placed into a really cool volunteering position where I'm supposed to create a website for a small film production company. They know I'm a total amateur, but they're in no rush at all, and they want me to just learn what I can, and give them what I can.

At first, I thought I would just do *everything* from scratch in Dreamweaver, and work my way into their host/server (Dreamhost) and into a CMS (they want future editing control), but I decided to go the other way around. I was working with WordPress at first but it was far too "blog" oriented for the needs of the site, and CS5 felt most natural after that. I'm really happy with it so far.

I have a pretty good idea of what is needed for the site design and content wise, and I've picked a theme on C5 (Boldy) that is closest to what we need, but of course, there's tons of style customization needed, before I start pouring in any real content.

Here's my biggest question for now - what's the best way to go about all this? I've got both Dreamweaver and Contribute CS5 on my computer. Do I need to connect to Dreamhost, download all C5 files, start editing/designing, and re-uploading? Am I making sense, or am I totally off? Should I run for the hills? Ha. Any helpful tips are welcome...thank you so much!

I use dreamweaver as a glorified ftp/text editor with code highlighting

I don't use any of the inbuilt css, assets, templates, test servers.

I set up a site, you really only need the root not conrete dir on your local machine.

Then you can edit the theme page types.(if your own themes)

If its a purchased template I think you need to do the customisation from the c5 dashboard > Pages and Themes > Customise

You can also use the design option for each of the blocks/areas to add css there.

If you want to have a go at a template take the default one
root>concrete>themes>default

copy it into
root>themes>default
and have a play about with it, its a nice simple theme that will give you an introduction on how to develop for concrete
