Content Block Problem
Permalink
Hey folks. I've been running Concrete5 successfully on a number of different websites and I absolutely love it. However, as of yesterday, I am having an incredibly irritating problem with the Content block. I can add and edit Content blocks, but every time I try to do something that requires a new pop up window (i.e. add an image, html, etc...) instead of containing the tools for that action, I get a page that says

I am running the latest version of c5 and haven't manually tweaked anything via ftp. As you can imagine, this is seriously limiting my ability to add content to my site... I would love some help in this. Thanks!

Update: After searching the forums a little more deeply, I've deleted and reuploaded a fresh version of the updates/concrete5.4.1.1 directory. Unfortunately, this didn't help... still trying to find a solution.
Another update: I've tried everything I can personally think of, from tweaking with the database to combing through as many of the related css files to try and find some reason for this, but still no luck. I am thinking it might have something to do with the tinyMCE files, but I installed a fresh version of them and it didn't solve anything. I'm thinking a fresh install of concrete5 is going to be my only option.
So if no one has an answer for my initial problem, maybe you can tell me what the least pain-in-the-butt method to reinstall c5 is? :-)

Perhaps you've inadvertently added some CSS to your page that is clashing with the editor..
make a new hidden page somewhere, change the theme to plain yogurt, see if it works there. If so, you've got something in your theme that's off.

Thanks for the suggestion! I made a test page, changed to plain yogurt and tried the content block. It did the same thing, worked just fine until I tried to add a link or anything that requires a pop up window off of the content block editor. Then I got the same page not found thing...
id try reinstalling the content block- take the content block from a previous version, like 5.4.0 (very stable and still has most features) and upload it to root/concrete/blocks overwriting the current one.
Just tried doing that (didn't know that was an option so will be good to know in the future, thanks!) but unfortunately it didn't solve this particular problem.
It's strange because it seems that the links in the toolbar on the edit content block are working just fine... everything is working the way it should... except that where they are linking to is corrupted. I don't know enough about css to figure out to where those items are linking though (i.e. where it's directing to when you click to add an image or show the html source). I expect that if I knew where to look, I'd find an accidentally empty directory or something.

id just reinstall then, seems wierd.
It wouldn't be the content block, it's tiny mce, download the version of c5 that you have installed, and re-upload the concrete folder, if it's an upgraded site look in the /updates folder
