Corrupted or Hacked site? Then when I try to edit block there is nothing there

Problem 1: ???, lots and lots of them have appeared all over my pages. Has the site [http://www.casasgto.com ] been somehow corrupted or could this be the result of a hack?
( when I go back to previous versions of my home page which is now ver 81 the ??? are still there even from a year or more old ver)
Problem 2: Going into Edit mode I select any block and the editor comes up. There is nothing showing to edit -this is also the case if I go to HTML edit - just a blank editor box. A cursor will appear and I can enter new text.
I can create new pages and edit blocks in them.
Curious to what happened and maybe a simple fix if there is one (otherise I'll just rebuild the site - it isn't very large)
Thanks in advance for any insights

goodnightfirefly -- Thanks for your reply. I think you are correct - you spotted the ????'s as blank spaces which is what they are and also the Spanish characters [which have always been tricky- e.g. in my header links "Español" would display correctly in Spanish but in my footer links the "ñ" would just be dropped and the link would look like "Espaol"
How to proceed? esp given the Editor problem not bringing up anything to edit - Delete all the blocks on the existing Home and Spanish pages then Create new pages with original style content and then copy those blocks over via Clipboard until the Main and Spanish ver pages are back to original? Would fix last?
==additonal info== Given your observation re database issues- I have 2 C5 sites. They are on different servers. My other site is fine so could the problem be with/originate from the Host?
Thanks tor your insights,
Bill

Contact your web host to see if they have made any changes recently, if you haven't changed anything recently yourself.
If (for whatever reason) they changed the encoding of your database, they should be able to revert it.
Otherwise yes, you will have to rebuild the content as you mentioned.

AWESOME!
I am in Mexico-
C5 forum is located where?
You reply from NSW Austraila.
I e-mail your suggestion to host located in Thailand.
I'm not sure how long it took to make the fix but 'less than two hours" would be in the ballpark.
All is well -and FIXED- now

Excellent, great to hear :)
The C5 team are located in Portland, Oregon US. I think they host it all themselves.

Your database encoding may have been changed, which would explain why previous page versions are also affected.
To clarify again, the ??? haven't been added to your page, it is the existing content not displaying correctly. Contact your web host to see if they have made any changes recently, if you haven't changed anything recently yourself.
