Customization Glitch
Permalink
Is anybody else having issues when customizing a theme, save it, and then go back to customize something else, it reverts the previous changes you've made back to the default color/size?? I've been struggling with this ever since I started Concrete5.
I found out it's just not my theme I built out because I installed the free 'NEAT' theme and it's doing the same thing.
Can someone explain?

I have no issues with this on a local host. The issue seems to be only on a web server. I go into 'system and settings' --> 'Cache and Speed Settings' and I turn off all the cache, is there somewhere else I should check? The issue still persists with those settings off. I will send a quick video once I get home.

Your file permissions and server caching settings should be available through your web host control panel.

Caching is off on web servers and file permissions are the default 0755. Not sure what else can be done. Have you taken a look at the video I attached?

I did watch the video.
If you only experience this issue on your web server, even when using multiple themes, then it is likely due to a server setting.
In terms of caching, check for things like Varnish and Cloudflare.
Also, did you test this issue with the default Elemental theme? To fully rule out custom code, I would create a fresh install of concrete5 on a subdomain to test with.

MrKDilkington,
Thanks for all your help. I had removed all sorts of cache and cleared it from the web server but the problem still occured.
I FINALLY decided to move my hosting from Bluehost to Hostgator and that fixed the issue right away. Not sure why bluehost was making my site act up.
Thank you,
Ram

Smells like Varnish to me. Did you try this?...

I contacted Bluehost support since I had no idea where settings were for that. They said the hosting plan I chose with them does not come with Varnish. They cleared out my cache for me but the issue still kept coming up.
I gave up and moved over to hostgator and it fixed the issue. It was very frustrating trying to edit a site and then having designs revert back to default.

Here is an example of when I design the header section -> save. Then if I choose to go back and change something else, it will change the header section back to a default.
I cannot reproduce this issue. Testing was done with a local server using concrete5 8.2.1, sample content, and the default Elemental theme.
Are you experiencing this issue on a web server or local server? If you are using a web server, I would check your file permissions and look to see if there is any server caching enabled.
