Dashboard broken only on homepage
Permalink
Last week I accidentally deleted my login file to my site and needed tech support at my hosting company to restore it for me, which they did.
Now whenever I try and edit my homepage the dashboard appears broken like an ordinary html page instead of like a tool.
How can I get this fixed? I am not a developer, just a user of C5. Conrete5 was originally installed through Simple Scripts directly into my hosting account.
Thanks
Rick

What do you mean by "accidentally deleted my login file". Also, can you post a screenshot of what your login page looks like?
I mean the index.php file that allowed me to log into C5 to edit my site. I have attached a screen shot of the page. That's not the problem though. I can log in now. The problem is the second screen shot. It displays what I get when I try and edit the homepage.
Wow, that's a mess. The first thing I would try is to clear the cache in 'Dashboard->Systems and Settings->Cache and Speed Settings->Clear Cache'. Turn off all caching while developing your site and clear your browser cache as well.
Are you sure you only deleted the index.php file? It looks like you might have deleted some core css files that get called when you're in Edit Mode.

I'll try the cache. I thought the index page was the only one I deleted. Any help you can give me would be appreciated because I am working with the tech support people from my hosting company. I honestly have no idea what to tell them.
Edit:
I just turned off cache and cleared the cache. Still acting up.

Tech support are probably not experts in concrete5. If it were my site, I'd re-install the core files. If you installed with a script, then this process is probably foreign to you. If you like, you could PM me your FTP details, I can have a look at your files and perhaps replace the core.
The support people noticed a file permissions problem. Could that be part of the problem? I won't get to check until later. If that does not solve it I will take you up on your kind offer to look into it.

I guess it's possible if the server doesn't have permission to view the CSS files but I don't think that's likely. Was it working before you deleted the index.php file?
Everything was fine up to that point.
