Defaults page doesn't open

I want to edit the "defaults" for my page types, but clicking on the "defaults" button opens always the home page. Has anyone an idea what this behavior is caused by??

SORRY - my mistake. The defaults page itself is ok. The problem is: if I choose "Setup on Child Pages" for a block, it is not setup on the child pages!
