Delete a page is gone forever?

I came across several forums that said it was impossible to get a deleted page back, and that backups from dbs was the only way - mostly from 09 and 10. Has this been changed since then? Because if not I need to CMA to prevent this from happening. I do not want angry clients. I am planning a solution right now if ya say nope its not possible, which I will share when I complete it. Let me know if there is a way or not. Thanks for any inputs!

Basically it hooks into the page delete event, and instead of deleting the page it puts it into a holding area in the dashboard where you can restore them back to your site. The number of pages that are kept are controlled by a user-configurable amount of days or pages.
