Designate New Home page

Can anyone help me here?
For some reason my home page navigation renders very funky and won't work properly. So I just thought I'd create a new page exactly the same using the same template layout and then moving it to the home page and deleting the other home page. Ehhhhh.. no can do with Concrete 5 it seems. What a complete mess.
How is this possible that someone overlooked this simple task? Very odd. I can do this so easy in other CMS platforms.
Please help. It's completely delaying my website completion.

Hi,
Thanks for your quick reply. Yes. I will be more specific. I'm using the template "Silence." I've built all my pages and then did the finishing touches to my home page. Somehow the navigation at the top of the screen is not working properly. It is corrupt. I've tried deleting this block and tried inserting it again, but the same results. You'll see in Snapshot 1 it's at the top on a the background where you can barely read it. It should look like Snapshot 2 with the clear bar over each navigation area and much thicker font and in the middle of the header. And actually works the way it's supposed to.
So in lieu of this, I tried to just create a new page using the "FULL pg" template they have in there and start fresh. Copy all the info to clipboard and then slowly build the new page and the navigation works. Trouble is, I can't get it to be the home page now and delete the old home page which should be a simple task. It's really just deleting an old file that is corrupt and replacing it with a new one. I can do it in HTML in a snap.
Anyway, I hope someone can help here. This "Silence" template is very buggy and there is no help from the maker. I've asked on other topics and get ignored.
Also, can you recommend any good solid templates from Concrete5.org that don't have issues like this one?
Thanks!

Files I forgot to attach.
It looks like the template of the Nav is just not applied to the nav. Have you tried doing so?
I hardly believe that the "Page is corrupt", you could try do change the pagetype of your Homepage to "Full" or any other pagetype and see if that helps.
The "assign a new home page" thing is something I never did, here is a thread I found about it:
http://www.concrete5.org/community/forums/usage/replacing-home-page...
Something else you could do is: redirect to "Home2"
You would set up your Sitemap tree like that:
Home (old)
- Home2
--Page1
--Page2
--Page3
and add the "Page Redirect" Add-On (http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/page-redirect/) - it is also available for 5.7 onto "Home" and let it point to "Home2".
So every visitor of your website will be automatically redirected to "Home 2" - you can also name it "Home" after renaming the old page.
I suppose assigning a new "Home" page will be easier but I havent done that before.

How do I apply the template of the nav to the nav? It is only a block that you insert in the area that's it. I tried changing the template to another style of page like "Right side Bar" and still the same effect.
Maybe I'm missing something. But, it's weird how it was working one day and all of sudden the next day it was not.

If you are working with version 5.6**, you enter Edit Mode, click the Nav so the little Box pops up and choose "Custom Template". There you choose the Template that you need, sometimes there come several templates with a Theme for different usecases.
If you are working with 5.7**, after activating Edit Mode, click on the Nav and choose "Design" and click on the "gear" symbol on the right.

Actually I deleted the nav. Then Clicked on the empty box under it that is there from the template and selected clear. And then reinserted the nav and it worked.
Something or some code was in there not allowing the Nav block that came with the template not work on that page.
Strange.
Thanks for everyones suggestions!
