Different slideshow for different pages?

Permalink 1 user found helpful
It appears the nice slideshow that comes as a default, and to which I have added and removed several images, remains the same for all pages, unless I just delete it. I want different images to appear on different pages, and I don't find instructions for doing that. What am I overlooking?

Did you choose a Fileset for the slideshow or individual images? If you chose the same Fileset for every slideshow, they will all show the same images -- you need to either set the images individually for each slideshow or create different Filesets for each one in the File Manager (which is in the Dashboard).

Okay, I am looking at Dashboard for the page whose slideshow images I want to change, and have added two filesets, but it is not obvious how to add images to them, other than perhaps by uploading from an external source. If I just want to pick different images from the general list of them, how do I do that?

In the File Manager, check the box next to each image you want to add to the file set, then in the little "**" dropdown list at the top, choose "Sets", then check the box next to the name of the file set you want to add them to, and click "Save" button (or "Save Sets" perhaps -- can't remember what the button is called exactly).

There is a "Save Search" link but no other "Save" link or button evident. When I edit the Questorming page, and edit the image block, or else click on Dashboard from that page, I get a setting indicated by a check mark beside the "QS" file set, which contains two of the six images, but now, having removed the image file I uploaded to test that function (and created a duplicate of it thereby), when I leave Edit mode or return from the Dashboard, the page has no images at all. There is still some missing piece in all this.

I think we're on totally different pages here. So are you trying to do this with the "Slideshow" block or the "Image" block? You need to make sure you're using the "Slideshow" block for this (NOT the "Image" block).

And there's a two-step process. First step takes place in the Dashboard File Manager, where you need to create a new "File Set" which contains the slideshow images you want. See attached screenshot 01 for how to create a fileset -- from the File Manager in the dashboard, you check the boxes next to the images you want, and then choose "Sets" from the "**" dropdown list up at top. See attached screenshot 02 for how to create a new set (by typing the name in the box and then clicking the "Update" button).

Now you need to go to the actual page you want this slideshow to appear on. Add the new block, and make sure you're choosing "Slideshow" (NOT "Image") -- see attached screenshot 03. Next, in the "Type" dropdown, you want to choose "Pictures From Fileset" (see attached screenshot 04). Finally, you need to choose the file set you just created from the "File Set" dropdown (see attached screenshot 05).

If you already have a file set and you want to change the images that are in it, it's pretty much the same process as creating a new one, except instead of typing in the name of a new set (as shown in screenshot 02), you just check the box next to the name of the file set that already exists up above.

Hope that clears things up -- good luck!

Great! That solved my problem. This sequence of steps is not exactly obvious.

But I had to delete the block first and recreate it as a slideshow.

Now to figure out how to make use of smaller images in the slideshow, place to one side, and make use of the otherwise unused space off to the side of it. Perhaps portraits of the Founders with quotes beside them (on a different site).
