Download Tracking Code with WebTraxs

Hello! A client I am helping uses the analytics service of WebTraxs (by ThomasNet). We were given a code to paste into the tracking code location in Concrete5 (which works fine), but we were also given a code that can be used to track downloading of files from the site.

Is there anywhere in Concrete5 to paste a code that can track downloads? I'm not very technical with these issues, so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Did you try putting the download tracking code in where you placed the tracking code?

planist1,

Thank you for your response. I did attempt to paste the code into the same place as I pasted the tracking code, but in the file that johnpaulb (below you) sent to me, it says this:

"Paste it into your HTML where
your download appears. Make sure that
you change the “/test.zip” reference to
your file’s name and location."

I'm not sure what my file's name and location is... forgive my ignorance if that's a really obvious answer!

Hello laurajvanv,

Here is a link to their official guide:
http://clients.webtraxs.com/pdf/WebTraxs4.2.pdf...

There is a section on: Tracking Downloads, that looks like it may be helpful.

Also, in this forum post, nando explains how to view file download statistics in the Dashboard:
http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/stats/questions-and-dis...

Here is a summary:
To access it go File Manager/File Properties/Statistics

I hope this helps,
John-Paul

John-Paul,

Thank you for the links! The first one seemed a bit too technical for me. It said, "Paste it into your HTML where your download appears. Make sure that you change the “/test.zip” reference to your file’s name and location," and I was a little confused by that. I'm not sure what my file's name/location are or how to include it into a specific download.

However, your second link seems to give me the necessary information without having to add this tracking downloads code. I'm not sure how much my client will use this feature anyway, so I imagine that information should be good enough for us.

Thank you very much!
