Duplicate content, pretty urls, canonicalization , and 301's

Hey folks,

Noob here working through the above issues. I have a site with lots of duplicate pages (/index.php/ variants). I've enabled pretty urls', done the .htaccess mod rewrite specifically for Dreamhost, created a pretty-url.php with require('index.php'); in it.

Now, on my site, I do have links to internal pages where i used index.php in those links (couldn't get pretties to work). I should change all of those links to canonical, yes?

Also, do I need to figure out separate 301 redirects for all those other /index.php/ duplicate pages?

Many thanks for your advice as I continue to ascend the learning curve at 7am on a sunday morning!! Yeehaw! An obsessive monster in the making!?

John

I dont think you have to manipulate any PHP or .htaccess files, when I switched it automatically wrote it to the file.
