Duplicating Pages Issues

I've got a page with 6-7 child pages.

I want to duplicate these pages to another area of the site - which is easy enough.

Two problems..

It resets all the page themes in the new duplicates back to the default

It changes the order of all the duplicate child pages (not sure what order it is)

Is there any solution to this, or do I just have to put up with it?

From the Sitemap, just drag the icon of the child page you want to copy to the new parent then select "Copy".

What that will do is make a new page that can be edited independently of the original.

However, if you want the pages to be identical at all times select "Alias".

This will just make both pages display content from the same collection ID. So when you edit one, it the edits will appear at both URLs.

Thanks for the reply.

I understand the copying process fine. It's just when you do a copy of a particular page - it isn't a copy. The themes have been reset to default and the child pages are in a completely different order. I don't want it to be an alias, as the two versions will eventually be different.

Maybe I'll just have to put up with it...?

perhaps a bit of script somewhere that sets a copied pages theme to default? Maybe I could disable this?

You're right about these problems. When I'm working locally, I've added a page named "Test Area" and I've assigned in the theme "Green Salad", and added four sub pages beneath it. They all inherit the theme (they do so when the page is created.)

However, when I rearrange their order, and then copy that area, the order of the pages goes back to the order in which I created them, and then their theme automatically goes back to plain yogurt - presumably because the page I was copying them TO was plain Yogurt. But obviously this isn't the desired behavior.

We will fix this - it will be in the next major release but may make it out more quickly

do you still have this issue in 5.3?
