eCommerce add-on taking user to the checkout after adding to cart!

As the title says, with the ecommerce add-on, every time a user adds a product to the cart, they are brought to the checkout and then have to click a link to return to the shopping area.
The client wants this changed to redirect from product page to the shopping area, or to not go anywhere at all, in effect cutting out the visit to the checkout until the user decides to go.
Anyone else come across this yet?
