Editing a theme image to change color of border

Hello, I am editing a theme to change the color of the side frames around the page. The image color has been changed and it looks good now. However if my data on the page spans too long I get a black border in the middle. My guess its some kind of filler and is coded somewhere as the background. How can I change this filler color in the theme. This may also be the background color. I am not sure. The theme is freeport and I am changing the black border or also image 3 to a different color but need to make the filler match. thank you

OK I found it for everyone else in the style.css first line change your color on the background. Pretty easy when you hunt for the color code. Thank goodness there wasn't alot of black colors.
Ok, where is the style.css? I found the main.css for the default theme- but that doesn't change any of the weird pixel borders.
