Editing content block stopped working
Permalink
Hi,
I have just started a hosted trial of c5 and everything was working beautifully til I tried swapping my theme (to see how that all worked). I went back to my original theme but now when I try and edit a content block, the editor comes up as a slab of grey nothing! No toolbar, no text area, no buttons, nothing!
Any ideas?

Hi mkly,
Sorry for the delay in replying - I expect we are in different time zones.
You're right, I downloaded the themes from the marketplace (Zenlike and Yosemite) and installed both. I then applied the themes to my home page in turn, checking out the overall look and feel. As neither gave me what I was looking for, I removed them and uninstalled them. When I signed out of my session and visited the website, the home page had no formatting whatsoever - just basic rendered HTML. I went back into edit, made a very minor text change and saved the changes expecting this to resolve the presentation issue, which it did. I was now back where I started.
I then wanted to add some content to one of the pages and tried to add a new content block. At that point, the content editor stopped working completely. I get the same result when I try and edit existing content (see screenshot).
I would be happy to start again from scratch if that is required but it would be useful to know what caused the content editor to break.
Thanks

Ok. Well the first time I typically tell people is to clear the cache. This is done via
"Dashboard->Systemwide Settings->Speed Settings" Click "Clear Cache"
If this doesn't work then could you try to add a new block? Is this screen blank as well? If not could you add an HTML block and put inside of it. Click Add. Can you see "testing"?

I had tried the basic HTML block before and that works fine.
The content block doesn't work at all, regardless of whether the block is new or existing. I have tried pretty much every other block and the properties dialogue works for all of them.
I tried clearing the cache as you suggested by sadly no difference.

It was back ... briefly
I fiddled with the sitewide properties (sorry, bad habit) and changed the Rich Text Editor toolbar set from 'simple' to 'Advanced'. When I went back to edit a page and add a content block, the content editor reappeared.
Sadly, this only appears to affect certain pages so I now have a mix of pages where some have editable content and others do not.
I am not sure what the common characteristics are between pages that don't work although I suspect they might be the 'oldest' ones.

What a terrible way to start. Could you give a little more information on how you "swapped out your theme". I just mean the process you preformed(Installed from Marketplace then clicked this etc). I'm sure we can get this sorted out.
