Editing Content, content comes up in html

When I am in the editing area of the site and click the area i want to edit it comes up in html therefore I cannot edit. Is there a setting I need to change somewhere?
If it's an HTML block then no. If it's a content block (would have an editing toolbar and would appear to be inline as opposed to opening in a pop-up modal) then it should default to showing you the WYSIWYG editor, not html. It's possible if it is a content block that you have something else causing javascript errors on your website which could be interfering with your editing experience.
