Editting problem
Permalink
I am running v. 5.6.3.4 C5. I am unable to edit Home Page and have lost Edit button. Rest of site works fine.
There is an AddIn weather block called "Metro Weather - 1.1
Display a metro-style weather forecast widget."
Fatal Error has arisen in source code :
<b>Fatal error</b>: Call to a member function xpath() on a non-object in <b>/data01/c6592040/public_html/packages/metro_weather/blocks/metro_weather/view.php</b> on line <b>27</b><br />
Says: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Forbidden)
I could try to uninstall the add-in, but without the edit button I am unable to remove the block.
Any suggestions of a fix to get this page running properly again.
Note: I have general IT knowledge only (not a coder).
Thanks,
Richard

I like Concrete5 as an alternative to Wordpress or Joomla.
I have just done a web share with a developer that I know to attempt to resolve this fault. We looked at the source code but this is a challenging fix.
The fault within the Add In coding that creates this fatal error is fixed by ::
Going into Dashboard > Blocks > [Relevant Add In] > remove instances of Add In
This removes all instances of the Add In from the website. This has cleared the fault and restored the Edit button.
However, this is not in my humble (user) opinion deeply impressive web design ...
Even if the web editor gets corrupted on the page itself, why not have a tab on SiteMap itself that allows you to get back into the editor that way and to remove the fault. Losing the page editor completely is a serious design flaw.
Most users are not developers and this will put them off using Concrete5. Judging from the number of similar blog posts, I am not unique in having this type of issue.
Best wishes !!!
