Error when Editing Block

Permalink 2 users found helpful
When I try to edit a block and then click Save/Update it pops up an Error. It shows a preview of the page and just says Error in the header of the pop-up. I am just trying to edit a regular content/text block. Any suggestions on what is going wrong here? I am using C5 v.5.4.1.1 and it is close to being a fresh install. It is on C5 hosting as well. C5 setup everything on the site for me and I have just picked a theme and done a few basic editing things on the page. I have hidden the default pages so the only things there are the Home page and I added a Products page. Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks

What I ended up doing was contacting C5 support about it and let them find the issue. The issue on mine was that when C5 was setup/installed on the website it was setup with an old version and then updated to 5.4.1.1 and somehow when it was updated, it didn't update everything properly so I had some blocks somewhere that were pulling some from the old version and some from the new version. They corrected the error for me and moved everything up to the new version... Not sure if that is your problem but that is what they told me...
You're best bet if it is a new site would probably be to blow it away completely and just start off with a fresh new install...

Reinstalling from scratch with the latest version (and not using the update feature) solved my problem. This however isn't really as it is supposed to be. Moving all the files and data every time there is an update is a pain.

I have been getting this error too. The issue for me however was not within concrete but safari. The error started happening out of the blue and I couldn't work out why, then I checked the safari extensions. The DivX HiQ extension (official release from DivX) was causing the problem. Once disabled, Concrete5 would update with no problems.

My version of DivX HiQ is 2.1.1.94 for those interested.

I just posted with a similar problem. I get an error message when trying to edit blocks - on clicking update I get the error, and after that, if I try and edit the same block again, I get Access Denied.

I'm with Heart Internet who have a one click install. I haven't had to upgrade the installation of Concrete so I'm wondering if starting again will solve it?

I'm using Firefox and I haven't installed any new add-ons lately. Does anyone know if there is an issue with Firefox? I'll give it a run in Chrome after this message.

Same thing happens in Chrome...

Looks like it's re-install time.

Try refreshing and clearing the concrete5 cache. If this does not change anything, check the editing permissions for the page. See if your admin account really does have editing rights for the page.

Cheers mckoenig - I appreciate your help. I tried emptying the cache and I'm signed in as super user (admin) but it still doesn't work.

It's definitely looking like a re-install.

I just worked out what my problem was. I did a full re-install and it still didn't work, so I looked at the content I was adding. I have a block in the scrapbook that was generated by MailChimp and there's something in this that the edit status doesn't like. I'm guessing it might be the jquery call but I'm yet to dig in and find out...

I hope this helps someone - it stumped me for a while.
