"exclude from page list" attribute not working since updating to 5.6.1.2

We recently updated to 5.6.1.2 and since the update we can no longer use the "exclude from page list" attribute.
We used to be able to create a page and select the "exclude from page list" so that the page would not show up in a page list until we were ready for it to be in the list.
Since the update, this attribute no longer works and every page we create shows up in our page lists.
Has anybody had experience with this problem and solved it?
