facebook comments not displaying correctly on homepage
Permalink
I've created a stack with an html block inside. Using Magic Data (http://www.concrete5.org/marketplace/addons/magic-data/... ) I've applied the magic data template to the html block and included the following code inside:
This successfully produces the page path and displays the proper comments thread in all instances, including using/not using index.php in the url and turning pretty urls on and off. All except for on the home page, where FB says the URL to my home page can't be reached. I thought this may be an issue with Magic Data until I manually inserted the URLs and got the same result. My initial plan wasn't to include a comments box on my home page at all, but I stumbled on this and it has me curious. Anybody out there that can replicate this or has any insight??
<div class="fb-comments" data-href="[%CID URL%]" data-width="334" data-num-posts="10"></div>

I am afraid I don't know anything about how facebook picks up URLs. Maybe you could try some more variations manually, such as leaving off the trailing '/', appending '/index.php', prefixing 'www' and seeing if Facebook likes any of them.
Wasn't a problem with Magic Data, thats for sure! Was just outlining how I came across the "bug". It seems the code simply does not work on the home page. It works on every other page I place the stack on!! I tried all of the above as far as trailing slashes, index.php, pretty url's, www's... ALL that. Doesn't work...
I was thinking of doing some specialist symbols plugins for Magic Data. So maybe a facebook set. I will add it to my ideas file.
I think a few symbols to grab user login, logout, active events would be really handy. in terms of the profile pages it would open up a world of content options based on page owner, user, or both!
EDIT for future page visitors: 2-25-14
I now have an add-on, Enlil Facebook Plugins, available in the marketplace that handles all the facebook plugins very nicely. It's full of options and easy to set up. Check it out!
