file manager permissons

Hello,

Love the fact that you can block the admin or dashboard from clients, but it appears that doing so prohibits utilizing the file manager.

This makes image editing impossible. Is there a go around for this. Clients need to be able to edit text and images, but otherwise not be given permission for dashboard.

Thanks,
Insiston

Found the answer indirectly via another post, after advanced permissions set, going into the sitemap and selecting "show system pages" check box, the other pages and dash board pages are now possible to set permissions individually.

Expand the dashboard and go into the file manager and set the permissions. I have a group called clients, They are allowed to access the dashboard but they only have the file manager and reports available to them now.

That was a GREAT Tip!
THANK YOU!

I've been struggling over this for the last past 4 days and searched all over place but nothing was working, but now it does!

What i Did?
1. Add a New Group
2. Add a New User & add it to the new Group
3. Set all the necessary Permissions for that Group in, index.php/dashboard/settings/set_permissions/
4. In site Map, Check the "Show System Pages"
5. Set the "Dashboard Page" Permissions so that the Group "can view this page" & "can edit this page".
6. Then Set the permissions each one of the pages that you want that specific group to View or Edit.
Note, After setting all the permissions log in with one of the users and you'll see that all the side bar in dashboard will displays only the pages that they allowed to see. (See Attached)

I love the fact that now, the client can access to Dashboard and only see the File manager, how ever it would be great to have a capability to eliminate the Dashboard in some cases so that the client can simply access to File Manager from the Front-end.

I think just a simple JS "File Manager" button on the Edit bar, would do the work!

Cheers

Laktik,

You can keep the dashboard from being seen by your group also. Just click on the dashboard name (top of group) and set permissions to not make it available to whatever group you want to include, just like any other page.

Cheers

This Post should be able to help, this way you could remove the dashboard link for clients, and just provide the direct File Manager link,

requires editing of the concrete files though
