I have suddenly lost the ability to add files in the file manager. The option to select a file and upload it is gone. It used to be there, and now is simply gone. I have checked the permissions and nothing has changed, I should be able to upload anything.

I have also tried to select a current image that is showing in the file manager and update it to a newer image, and this will not happen either. I have no access to the file manager to add files in any way.

I am pretty new at this, so it may be something simple... but I am clueless. If someone has any suggestions as to what the problem may be and how to solve it, I would really appreciate it.
