Finding content in backed up files

I switched hosting companies. I was going to just renew my Godaddy hosting, but then a couple of days before it was going to renew on the expiration date, I made the sudden decision to switch to Bluehost (which I know is way better in basically every way). Since it wasn't planned, I didn't give myself time to have the bluehost working before I lost access to my godaddy stuff... which makes things a bit harder, and I know it's not recommended, but it's too late to change what I already did.

So I uploaded all of a particular site's files onto my new server, but after dinking with the database backup file for a long time it became apparent that my sql file was corrupt. Since it's the only one I had for that particular site I just have to start over from scratch.
It's not a big site (and the visitors do not login, etc, so nothing lost in that way).
A number of pages did have good written content on them though that isn't really saved anywhere besides on the old site backup. What I want to know is if there is a way I can go into my backup files and copy/paste the text that I want to put into the new site. Where would copy content like this tend to be found?

Thanks much,
Kari

The backup sql file is a text file, so you could load it into a text editor, find the SQL for the backup of the table for the content block, find the particular block text within that, and copy-paste that into the html view of a content edit dialog on the new site.

There are probably some things it will screw up, and it will certainly be missing images, but maybe that will save you from some typing.

Thanks - I was able to find the main part of what I was looking for. Still learning my way through all of this stuff, mostly just through trial and error, so I appreciate everyone's guidance!
