Footer info - Can anyone help?

Yes, I know that we go to domain/packages/particular_theme/themes/theme_name/elements/footer.php ... and we can edit the footer on our site. Or, we go to domain/concrete/themes/theme_name/elements/footer.php (not saying that the address is correct, but you get my drift).
PROBLEM: When I go here and change the footer, it changes in ALL pages except for index.php (MAIN page). It remains the "generic" footer. I do NOT want to see "Sign in to edit this site." Why is it not changing the MAIN page, and how do I change it here. I've created several sites with concrete5 and I don't have this problem with any site except for the one I created with the Soul_Mate theme.
Can anyone help???

What page type is your home page using?
I don't recall. It's either the default or right sidebar.
I'm not sure what happened ... it is now working. The only thing I did was open the page up to edit it, and it was correct in the editor. Then when I saved it ... even before I saved it ... I checked in another browser ... it was all correct. Go figure.
I seem to be having the same problem.
I had previously edited the footer to remove the sign-in prompt and change the copyright.
I then upgraded Concrete.
I noticed following the upgrade that footer.php had reverted back to it's original version. So I simply replaced the file from my backup.
What's weird is that it seems to have worked for most of the site, by not the index page - or the links page.
I am now . .stumped. The site is crossroadsroleplay.com if that helps.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

The update overwrote your edits because the theme you are using is a default Concrete5 theme that gets overwritten with each update.
Copy or upload the default theme located here
/concrete/themes/dark_chocolate
to
/themes
Make your edits to the footer again but this time to the one located in /themes
From this point forward, the next time you update, your edits will not be overwritten.

Thanks for the tip
However, I did that and it seemed to made no difference.
What's weird is that the correct footer is showing on some pages and not others.
It shows correctly on ALL the pages when I go into edit mode, but as soon as I leave (even if I save a change), some of the pages revert back.
The index page always seems to revert back. At this moment, all the pages seem fine EXCEPT the index page

So I tried doing a dummy edit of the index page - I just added a random space - and saved it, to see if that would help.
It did!
Problem solved - thank you
