I must just be making this harder than it is but is it possible to ftp to one of the free trial sites on C5 ?
My site is whatever.c5host.com and I can't seem to connect to it with filezilla. I know I'm missing something easy....

I think you need to configure for sftp not plain ftp
Nope like Steve said you need to upgrade.
That is a free trial.
I would either check out some hosting plans that support c5 (like hostgator - they even have an inhouse simple scripts like cpanel addon that will install c5).
Or else...
Purchase some hosting from c5.

Does this mean it is impossible to make a new theme using a trial account? This was my main objective after watchinghttp://www.concrete5.org/documentation/how-tos/designers/make-a-the... . My plan was to show co workers and devs how easy the theme was to implement and CMS to update. Well, I guess I can only do the later and not nearly as impressively now, without a theme custom to my organization.
