general question about user registration
Permalink
Hiya,
I'm just wondering if users registration to the site prior to allow them to make the purchase is that important...
I ask because I've had trouble with translating a few of the "system pages" and the obvious workaround I thought of was to eliminate the registration process altogether... For the admin, it doesn't matter if the "system pages" translation is in French or English or sometimes both on the same page... I can understand... But to a French speaking user is it crucial that the process is in French and stays in French... And of course the same with English.
So......
What are your thoughts on this?
What do it tell the people if they have to register or not?
Is it more secure to have the user registered?
What are the advantages of registration?
How did you set up your stores?
Thanks.
Pat

The advantage to registration is that you can enable users to see their purchase history when they are logged in, and you'll have more data about them and more methods to communicate with them.
On the other hand, people really like to be able to buy products as a "guest" and not have to register on a site to do it, so there are pros and cons to both approaches.
Good luck!
