Group Expiration Options - Send email when group-membership expires

I'm using the Group Expiration Options feature for handling my memberships. Is it possible to send out an email when a user is removed from a group, saying its time for buying a new membership?

Yes. As it wasn't possible via standard I had an add-in developed. I am looking into putting it on the market, don't know the requirements though..

Membership renewals are done through the ecommerce add-in. A product is linked to a specific member group. When I send out group removal notifications via the add-in you can link to your webshop or a specific product, which the user then needs to buy in order to renew their membership.
