guest book block not sending notification

I have added the guest book block to my page and have submitted test posts, which works fine. However, no notification is sent to the email address I have entered in the 'alert email address when comment posted' box. This means that when I check 'yes' for the 'comments require moderator approval' box, there is no notification sent and no way of knowing to go and approve the post, without randomly checking on the site for posted items.

Does anybody know why my email notifictaion isn't working?

when you don't get emails from concrete5, it's probably because your server isn't setup right to send em. does php_mail() run on your server? sometimes hosts turn it off.
do you see anything in the mail log of the dashboard?

Yes it has logs like below:

**EMAILS ARE ENABLED. THIS EMAIL WAS SENT TO mail()**
Template Used: block_guestbook_notification
To: edward@lawrencecreative.com
From: "flora"
Subject: Guestbook Comment Notification
Body:
There is a new reply on a guestbook in your Concrete5 website.

So you think I need to check my server?

maybe start with your spam filter.

then see if your server has a problem sending mail to itself.. sometimes if you've split your MX records off to somewhere else a server doesnt know to mail people in its own domain..

then check with your ISP - they may have turned mail() off.

I just had this issue with the Form Block. Client hosts their own email and I did not have the domain listed in the /etc/remotedomains file. I assumed WHM/CPanel would know to do that when I forward my MX records off site.

yeah i have found almost always no.. if your MX records are sending mail to another server, your webserver tends to not realize that and assume it is sending mail to itself.

Can you attach an example of this remotedomains file? I've never created one of these before. Thanks.

I'm having the same problem with the blog comment block, which the developer said is the guest book block re-used for the blog.

I also put an email contact in the 'Alert Email Address when Comment Posted' field, but it does not send an email notification for the comment block.
