Has anyone ever tried to have clients use markdown editing as opposed to a WYSIWYG editor for content changes?

If you did I am just wondering how successful that was with respect to clients being able to do that?
Markdown (if you know what that is), while not full blown HTML, does present some interesting possibilities in terms of giving clients more control over the presentation of their content without having to muck around with TinyMCE produced HTML gibberish.
It seems to be a very powerful and easy to use markup language both for me and my clients but I wanted to ask here to see what, if any, your experience with trying to introduce this to clients has been.
Would appreciate hearing any pros and cons.
Thanks.
Carlos
