Header Background color does not show

I have changed the background color of header but it doesn't change on the front. In edit mode, the new color I have chosen are visible but when I exit edit mode, the color is hidden.

Which C5 version and theme r u using?
Am using 5.7.4 and the theme is Elemental. Let me clarify things well. I am not trying to change the entire header background. I want to change the background colors of the blocks in the header, eg Navigation Links bgcolor,Site Tile/Logo bgcolor. The colors are visible on edit screen, but on exit edit screen, they aren't visible.
