Header Logo - Easy Karma points : )

Permalink
I am using the 'Dream House' theme which I purchased about a week ago. Unfortunately, I am unable to get a response from the designer and the documentation provided on how to do this is out of date.

I upgraded to the 5.6 version of C5 and I do not see any 'global scrapbook' area or any other option on how to change the header text to my logo. Im sure its easy and quick to solve but instead of me spending another 6 hours searching I figured I would admit my stupidity and ask you guys/gals : )

Thanks in advance.

First of all, I'm still semi-new to Concrete5, so please don't take my answer as 'concrete', lol.

I'm assuming what you're looking for is Site Name? It's under Dashboard > System and Settings > Basic > Site Name. This is what affected the text in my header logo (although mine did have a global stack, but it started out as my site name). Keep in mind, editing the site name will also edit it in all default meta titles (default: Site name :: page), but it should not affect your URL at all.
As I said, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, but maybe it could be? Maybe you don't even want to edit your site name, but just want to edit the header logo text alone, I'm not really sure.

Hope this was helpful! :)

Yes that is helpful thank you, I am trying to place my logo in this area though. Do you know how to do this? I can change the text but how to change that to a logo idk!

Yeah, that's what I did too.
Unfortunately, the way I did this was with a global stack that was included with the theme, and I'm not sure how to create one.
Hopefully your theme creator answers you on that.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I'm not familiar with the Dream House theme but ...

Global Scrapbooks were replaced by Global Area's. Have a look in Stacks and see if there's a stack which represembles the area you're wanting to edit (it could be named anything under the sun).

If you struggle, feel free to drop me a PM with either login details or teamviewer details and I'll try to lend a hand ...

Job.

thank you! I did locate the stacks area and then the site name section. What I did was add a block to that stack containing my logo - no success. I will send you a PM to see if you can help thanks very much!

Hi tlamb

Had a quick look. Without modifying the theme there's no way to do what you're after. I'd be able to do it but would be chargable.

Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the theme either but on the developer's live demo in the marketplace, the image is rendered with the following code:

<img border="0" class="ccm-image-block" alt="" src="/files/4312/8288/3886/logo.png" width="211" height="68" />

This implies that the image is being pulled from the standard C5 file manager system and that it is being created using a standard C5 image block. Job, Are you sure you can't edit it from the front end?

Just to make sure we're talking about the same theme, it's this one right?

Weekend... what's that?
tlamb replied on at Permalink Reply
Yes this is the theme in question. So where would I go (step by step due to my ignorance) in order to change this?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't own the theme so I can't investigate further. I can offer some things to try though.

What Job was mentioning is that the theme uses different 'page types' to display the pages and the logo could be assigned in the 'Page Type Defaults'.

The way to get there from the 'front-end' is this:

1) From the Home page of the website, hover over the Edit button.
2) Choose 'Design' from the popup window.
3) Across the top of the next window, see what 'page type' has been assigned to that page. Note it's name.
4) Go to Dashboard -> Page Types.
5) Find the name of the page type that you noted earlier and click 'Defaults' button for this page type.
6) The page should open and you can click the 'Edit' button to edit this page.
7) Here's where you'll have to poke around yourself to see if you can find the image block that contains the logo. Move your mouse around to see what blocks get shaded. If the logo is editable, it should darken as you hover over it.
8) If you were able to change the logo image here, you will have to tell Concrete5 to propagate your changes to all the existing pages on the site. You do that by hovering over the image again after your changes are made. The 'Edit' window should open again but this time click on "Setup on Child Pages". A list of pages in your site that are using this page type will pop up and you can put a checkmark beside all of them. If you just make a change and publish your changes without this set, then your changes will only apply to new pages created with this page type.

Try this and report your findings. Good luck!

No Luck :(. The logo is not in the site yet and there was no option to edit or add the logo to the header. Valiant effort and thank you for the detailed steps!

I could not find dream house only dream home in themes. Do you have anything like logo.png in your file manager list ? This is a image block so should be pointing to your file manager items.

Use an FTP program and browse to this folder /files/4312/8288/3886/ and create a logo that is 211pixels wide by 68 pixels height and name it logo.png. Drop it in that folder replacing the original file and your logo should change to your own you created.

I am sorry, the theme name is 'Prime Location' - the logo on the concrete profile says 'Dream Home'. This is the area I can not figure out how to add my own logo and the developer has STILL not responded (a week later after Voice Mail and Email).

Follow the same instructions above except put the logo.png file you create in /files/5512/8029/2297/ and overwrite the existing file.

<img border="0" class="ccm-image-block" alt="" src="/files/5512/8029/2297/logo.png" width="215" height="58">

is the file location in the demo. This may well be specific to that demo and the file in your real site might not be found in this location.

Either right-click on the existing logo and choose properties to see it's location in your site or do a 'view source' on your site and find a line similar to the code above around line 62 and note the location of the logo in your site. Upload your logo (existing logo is 215px x 58px) to that location and see what happens.

yep same type of theme which has a image block for the logo. So in theory you will have logo.png in your file manager ?

<img border="0" class="ccm-image-block" alt="" src="/files/5512/8029/2297/logo.png" width="215" height="58">

I had more issues than just this one with this specific theme therefore I ended up using another which was easy to include a logo
