HELP! advanced permissions confusion

Permalink
Ok, I'm trying to set up a site so that a user group can add wiki-type pages and then edit them. Here's how I BELIEVE this should work based on my read of various documentation and the UI:

1. I turn on advanced permissions.
2. I set up a group, let's call them EDITORS
3. I set up an index page, let's call it WIKI.
4. In the WIKI page, I go to advanced permissions:
a. Add Group -> EDITORS
b. Set: By Area of Site
c. Currently Viewing: Sub-Page Permissions
d. Check off "Wiki Page"
e. Sub-pages... Inherit page type default permissions
[My understanding of the system is at this point an EDITOR can now add a page of type "Wiki Entry" below the WIKI page... Is this correct?]

3. I set up a Page Type, let's call it Wiki Page, then set permissions so editors can edit a main content block, and add and delete additional blocks of various types.

However, at this point, C5 takes me back to the login page, and I cannot exit this page, it keeps looping. I have to log in as an admin.

I've been messing with this for a while and it's very frustrating. Based on what I've read, it's not a problem with the permissions, it's my understanding of how it's supposed to work.

Ok, I think I'm finally getting somewhere. It's possible to set permissions so that an editor can add a page, but if you have not set that page type to give the editor permission to Read it, C5 kicks him out to the login page, and you're locked out.

This seems like a bug (or at least a flaw in the logic). There needs to be a dialog that says "you are allowing users of type <group> to add pages of type <page type>. You need to enable uses of this group to Read and/or Edit this type of page."
