The centering of the blocks is because of the theme use the support forum for that theme (go to its page and click support), as for the resizing of blocks, I don't understand what you mean by that.

Q: HOW DO I ADD A SIDE COLUMN?

A: To get a 'sidebar'-
1. Edit page
2. Click on 'Design'
3. Choose your desired 'Page Type'- Left sidebar or right sidebar.

Q: (How do I) CHANGE THE SIZE OF THE BLOCKS?
A: To edit the block style-
1. Click on the block you wish to edit
2. Select 'Design'
3. Select 'Spacing'
4. Edit the margins and spacing

See the demo for the options-http://www.proteuscreative.com/theme-demos/obsidian/...

Demo option with left-sidebar-http://www.proteuscreative.com/theme-demos/obsidian/index.php/page-...

I would suggest you take Mnkras' advice and contact the developer (Daniel Anderson) for support- Contact him via his Concrete5 profile here-http://www.concrete5.org/profile/-/6605/... or you can email him at design "at" proteuscreative "dot" com .

When the CMS is free and help in the support area is free, and forums help is free...money is not wasted.
