How do I "resize" block with slide show?

I have slideshow on homepage and the pictures are too large. How do I adjust size of block so pictures are smaller?
Have you tried the design tab for the block? also, try adjusting the layout cells to create the size you need.

Essentially I created a custom template which grabs the thumbnail instead of the full size image and displays that instead.
